About the Regional Population Office No.VI |
|
| A Brief History | |
| The Regional Population Office
(RPO) No. VI was established in 1973 in Iloilo City to address the population problems prevalent in the Western Visayas
Region.
In 1975, the Commission introduced the Total Integrated Development Approach (TIDA) to broaden program coverage. The Family Planning Program was then integrated with other development activities such as the National Population and Family Planning Outreach Projects to render necessary services to remote barangays. In 1976, the Regional Population Office No. VI moved to its permanent site, a sprawling 5,005 square meter lot donated by the Municipality of Pavia, eleven kilometers from Iloilo City. During this period, POPCOM VI embarked on a massive Information, Education, Communication and Motivation (IECM) blitz to promote the Family Planning Program in the region including delivery of contraceptive supplies. POPCOM VI to date is embarking on a massive coordination with both government and non-government agencies and local government units in the implementation of projects and activities on the Philippine Population Management Program (PPMP) in Western Visayas.
