The Counseling on-air project was a response to the alarming trends of the problems and concerns of youth in Western Visayas as revealed by the Young Adults Fertility and Sexuality Survey 2, a national survey conducted by the UP Population Institute.

Now on its 6th year and dubbed in local dialect as "Tingog Sang Pamatan-on sa Hutik sa Kagab-ihon" (Voice of Youth in Night Time Whispers), the program is aired over Bombo Radyo every 4th and 5th Sunday of the month every 9:30-11:30 PM, and  co-anchored by trained peer counselors/educators.  The program follows an on-air counseling format through phone calls and letter senders. 

This year the program was launched over DYLL "Radyo ng Bayan"  entitled "Lamharon" (Young People) every Saturdays, 9:30-11:30 in the evening.

The program continuously providing counseling services to beleaguered youth confronted with multi-faceted problems on reproductive health, sexual involvement, unwanted pregnancies, teenage marriages, STIs, homosexual relationships and many others.

 

Project Objectives
General:

To  contribute to the Philippine Population Management Program goal of reducing the incidence of teenage pregnancy, early marriage and other youth reproductive health problems.

Immediate:

a. Twenty youth leaders would have acquired skills in counseling and leadership

b. Raise the level of awareness and knowledge on responsible sexuality to at least 10% of youth population

c. Encourage community involvement in youth activities.

 

Strategies
1.  Training: Peer Counselors Training, Interpersonal Communication Skills, Leadership, etc.

2.  Counseling Services and IEC: Counseling On-Air Program, Symposia, Materials Development, Teen Center Counseling and other services.

3.  Community Participation: Involvement of NGOs, LGUs, collaboration with medical experts and other professionals and community leaders.
